We are creating a space centered not around a collective feedback process, but around letting playwrights see their work produced. We want the work we create and support to be tested by an audience instead of other theatremakers. To this end, we host the Green Light Reading Series, a program for playwrights to see unproduced work in front of an audience with a one month turnaround from submission. Our fully staged productions are exclusively world premieres, unfettered by lengthy workshops and successive readings, aiming for a year or less from first draft to staging.

We also believe that theatre should provoke a change in perspective, and institutional theater is growing increasingly resistant to risk. Our productions explore underrepresented themes such as political repression, climate realism, sexual marginalization, and domestic fascism. Our plays feature honest depictions of modern sex work, normalized trans life, male loneliness and radicalization, and the tenderness of unabashed intimacy. 

These stories are often shown in a sanitized and parochial fashion, if shown at all. We aren’t afraid to approach these topics in an uncompromising and empathetic manner, challenging the audience to reckon with their preconceptions about the people they reduce, be it via demonization or tokenization. In doing so, we hope to inspire audiences to empathize with those they consider outsiders, and imagine a more trusting future.
